Jarett Andretti

I’ve known Steve nearly my whole life. He trained my Dad when he was racing and even worked on my Grandfather, so Steve has worked on 3 generations in our family! When I started to transition into longer races, Steve was my first and only call on the fitness side of my preparation.

Over the course of a year we built the base and gradually modified my program to suit my progress. This was never a one size fit all fitness program. I checked in with Steve after each workout and we would modify the program as necessary to maximize the results. As we progressed, we have moved into building dieting and hydration plans to make sure I get the best out of myself each race weekend. Our work isn’t done, but we have come a long way in a year and I’m excited to see where Steve takes me over the next year!

Before starting to work with Steve, I had pretty much stopped exercising due to knee and hip pain. My husband, who works with Steve, introduced us and Steve quickly began to analyze and offset the wear patterns that had begun with my hip and knee joints. Steve was creative and figured ways for me to perform the exercises without pain and I began to develop endurance and strength.

I have seen Steve three times a week for a few years now and I began to dread any interruption in my routine due to being out town for awhile, etc.  that always meant that we would have to again work to offset the effects from being off my routine.  I had a unique situation recently with surgery and a broken leg but Steve was quick to implement a solution to restore my normal gait, confidence and forward progress.

Currently we are working together via teleconferencing and we haven’t missed a beat.
It is as if Steve is there in person! He is a stickler on proper execution and can devise steps ahead to minimize any potential tension patterns BEFORE they become an issues. Additionally,  I have learned the tools to self-correct.

Technology is great and has allowed us to continue moving forward.

I have worked with Steve for four years, starting when told by my orthopedic doctor, due to my torn hamstring, there would be serious restrictions on my future exercise activities.  Under Steve’s guidance, I’m stronger and in better condition at 74 than I was at 70…..and there are no restrictions!

When COVID 19 struck, I was concerned I’d lose my momentum by not having in person workouts with Steve and his team. Steve, who’s been absolutely relentless in learning about the human body and finding better ways to build my strength and conditioning, was not to be deterred. He’s figured out how to do our workouts, including stretching and decompressions, entirely remotely through videoconferencing.  My remote workouts with Steve are as effective as in person.  I’m not sacrificing anything.

I’m excited as I can be literally anywhere in the world and still do a full and thorough workout with Steve….without missing a beat!  How incredibly empowering this is.  And, just another reason I’m grateful to Steve for all he continues to do for me……and the difference he’s making in my life!

“Steve is unlike anyone I have ever worked with on my physical fitness. To refer to him as a trainer is to dramatically sell short the value he adds to one’s health and wellness. I think of him more as one of the most important healthcare professionals in my life, no less important than my doctor or dentist.

As a reconditioning specialist, Steve is less concerned with building up my body to look good at a beach and more focused on the overall efficiency of my physical function, power output, flexibility, elimination of friction and minimization of expended energy.  This approach is highly unique in the fitness world today because few trainers understand the concepts.

Until I met Steve, my approach to working out for most of my life was to generate quick reversions to what I perceived as my mean bodily ideal,….to shrink a few inches off my waist, to add some width to my shoulders, to pump up my biceps, and to load up the muscle mass in my legs for skiing or biking.  What I never realized is that such futile attempts actually worked against my intended goals by creating big globs of energy-sucking muscle mass that hung isolated in my skeletal structure, unsupported by smaller, surrounding muscle groups that could have more easily achieved the output I wanted.  Steve has consistently demonstrated to me  the importance of these smaller, supporting muscles that once strengthened and called to the task, can work in unison to achieve the athletic function I desire in a more balanced and controlled manner without expending nearly as much energy as I used to when I relied mainly on bigger, isolated muscles.  Not only is my physical performance better and more controlled, but by redesigning ones muscular support structure to tax many muscles only a little bit rather than over-taxing one or two muscles in isolation, friction is reduced, inflammation is minimized and recovery happens much more quickly with much less soreness.

I truly do not know of anyone else who thinks about conditioning in this way.  In fact, most conditioning fads of today (Cross-Fit, Barry’s Boot Camp, Soul Cycle) approach conditioning in the exact opposite fashion; by over-training a limited set of major muscles in a manner that uses maximum energy for limited output (extreme exertion).  This results in the participants of these classes ending each session with a feeling of total exhaustion that they mistake for fitness and conditioning, when all that they have likely accomplished is over-exertion and exhaustion that has produced un-balanced bulk and uncomfortable inflammation.  Sadly, such an approach does very little to improve function for the activities they were training for in the first place.

Simply put, Steve is unique, Steve “gets it” and his reconditioning approach can get you “dialed in” for just about anything you want to do in your life at whatever age you want to keep doing it.”

Since 1993, I have been trained by Steve Hoffacker. He has created a focused, specialized, and most importantly, individualized training programs that fit the particular needs of each client and/or professional athlete. In my case, I was essentially broken and did not even realize my performance deficit.

Just training until it hurts or total exhaustion is not a practice that fits his criteria. You have to experience it, to fully understand and appreciate the approach. I have recommended many people including severely injured athletes and Steve has performed miracles. If you are serious about your health and well being, or just want to perform better in everyday life. This is the place but be ready for a life changing experience.

Through high school and college I trained often and hard. When I entered the business world I no longer had the time to train the same way, plus my body was starting to feel the affects of my overtraining past.

Steve put together a program suited for me and my busy schedule. I now work out “smarter” than I ever have and I am achieving great results. With a personalized training program and a well balanced diet designed by Steve, I have been able to eliminate the pains of overtraining, change my body composition, and alter my lifestyle for the better both mentally and physically.

Steve Hoffacker is the one reason I am in the best shape physically and mentally I have been in for years!

As a former professional basketball player, I never went through an “out of shape period”, and yet my body said otherwise. I found Steve Hoffacker five years ago when my body shut down and I needed help just to do dentistry, let alone continue to be physically active. Seve is the absolute best at what he does.

Though I just turned 40, I am in the best shape of my life.

I had tried other personal training situations, but they did not suit my personality. WIth that said, I had found Steve Hoffacker 10 years ago. Simply put, Steve has produced the kind of results that keep me coming back.

At age 55 I was given a gift of six weeks training with Hoffacker Fitness. It was the best gift I have ever been given.

I played tennis and every year was fighting arm and leg injuries. I had also been seeing a chiropractor for 20 years for my neck and lower back. I had taken therapy several times and used medication to mask the pain. Four years later I am still working out with Hoffacker and am a new person. I will be 60 this year and have never felt better. My tennis game had moved beyond what I expected and I have not had an injury or sore muscle in two years. My neck and lower back just never hurt any more. Since incorporating Power Plate into our workouts I feel I have such strength. Thank you Hoffacker Fitness for giving me a new lease on life and for retaining my feeling of youth.

Four and a half years ago I had major back surgery for scoliosis (a 60 degree curve, two rods were fused to my spine to straighten it along with 14 screws and two hooks.) Prior to my surgery I had been working out – running, aerobics, some strength training and yoga for many years. I realized I needed to be in peak physical condition to recover quickly and completely.

My conditioning at Hoffacker was pre-surgery – I started about 6 months before the actual procedure was to take place. Through my personal training, I was able to build a solid, strong foundation to support a full optimal recovery. Within three months I was back at Hoffacker starting to rehabilitate and train. My surgeon worked hand in hand with the Hoffacker team. Within six months of my surgery, I was fully recovered and was able to start running again. My surgeon had told me it would take at least a year! And now, four and a half years later, I am in better physical condition than I have ever been at any point in my life. My training has not only created a sculpted, toned body, but has allowed me to continue to push my cardio endurance to new levels while maintaining stamina, energy and physical power.
